1. The Kumbh mela gathering visible from space.
The 2011 Kumbh Mela gathering was largest recorded gathering of 75 million pilgrims present in the crowd. This gathering was so huge that it was visible from the space.
2. The wettest inhabited place in the world.
Mawsynram, a village situated on the Khasi hills in Meghalaya recieves the highest recorded average rainfall as compared to all of the world. Cherrapunji, a part of Meghalaya holds the record for highest rainfall in the year of 1861.
This took a total of 25,700,000 man hours for it's completion. It also weighs as much as 50,000 African elephants. It is a true engineering and architectural work . It is designed by Seshadri Srinivasan.
4. The highest cricket ground in the world.
At an altitude of 2,444 metres, the Chail Cricket ground in Chail, Himachal Pradesh, is the the highest cricket ground in the world. It was built in 1893 and is a part of Chail military school.
5. Shampooing is an Indian derived concept.
Shampoo was invented in India not as the commercial liquid but the method by using the herbs. The word shampoo itself has been derived from the sanskrit word 'champu' which means to massage.
6. The Indian National Kabaddi team has won all the world cups.
India has won all 5 men's Kabaddi world cups held till now and have been undefeated throughout these tournaments. The Indian women Kabaddi team has also won all Kabaddi world cups till now.
7. Water on the moon was discovered by India.
In September 2009, India's ISRO Chandrayan-1 using it's moon mineralogy mapper detected water on the moon for the first time in the world before any country.
8. Science day in Switzerland is dedicated ex-indian President, A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.
The father of India's missile program had visited in Switzerland back in 2006. Upon his arrival Switzerland declared May 26th as Science Day.
9. The first rocket in India was transported on a bicycle.
The first rocket was so light and small that it was transported on bicycle to Thumba launching station, a place situated in southern city of Thiruvananthapuram, in the state of Kerela.
